There are rumours going round that are asking “Could Samsung be preparing to ditch Android.” The short answer is No. Although all good things must come to an end at some point, Samsung will not ditch the cash cow that is Android any time soon or in the future.

The rumours have started to appear again because Samsung have their own OS in the name of ‘Tizen’. Tizen Indonesia have reported that Tizen OS v3.0 leaked out and they have some renders of the OS running on the Galaxy S4. We reported back in May and June this year that samsung-offers-4-million-bounty-for-would-be-tizen-developers so it’s only right that they would carry on with developing the OS.

SO What is Taizen?
Tizen is an open sourced Linux-based operating system jointly being developed by Samsung and Intel (and currently exists within the confines of the Linux Foundation). We’re not sure of Intel’s motives in the whole affair, but we’re definitely sure of Samsung’s.
The two companies have taken bits and pieces of their own operating systems — Bada and Meego — and used it to help craft this standards-based software that will aspire to go in phones, tablets, cameras, appliances and everything in between.
To say that Samsung could break with Android is we believe nonsensical. You don’t hear the same from motoring mags when car manufacturers started producing Diesel, Electric, dual-fueled or bio-fueled cars. All big companies have to diversify to keep the cash rolling in. Plus it will give the consumer a bigger choice in what they would like to buy. The other point would be the Samsung along with Intel would release updates sooner as Tizen would of course be an in-house OS.
